Hike To Everest Base Camp .  Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand became the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. Everest Base Camp Trek . 

Tenzing Norgay, a Nepalese Sherpa, accompanied him. On the other hand, some people believe Mount Everest was ascended far earlier.

Climbers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine attempted to climb Mount Everest in 1924, but were last seen on July 8, just below the top, going uphill. Kami is number eight on the list. With 24 summits, Rita Sherpa holds the record for most successful summits.

Kami Sherpa's most recent ascent took place in May of this year. Lhakpa Sherpa, a mountain guide, now holds the record for the most successful summits by a woman, with nine.
