At a height of 3800 metres, the Brahmatal walk is open all year, even when most other trekking routes are closed, making it a perfect winter trek for beginners.
With a diversity of bird species and century-old oak trees, Brahmatal is one of the most stunning woodland treks. Rhododendron blooms, which are scarlet and pink in colour, carpet the trails of these woodlands in the spring. In the winter, when the region is blanketed in beautiful white snow, the scenery transforms dramatically, producing a Winter paradise.
The Brahmatal trek begins and ends in Lohajung, a small village in the Chamoli region of the Garhwal Himalayas. The 6 km journey from Lohajung to Gujreni takes you through dense conifer, cedar, oak, and fir forests. The Gujreni campsite is set in a magnificent clearing surrounded by oak and rhododendron trees, with views of snow-capped mountains in the distance.
