Who is the creator of the universe? Ah, now there's a question that I'm sure will elicit far too many answers. The answers could come from the big bang theory or other history books, and religion, of course, will have its own storey to tell. Lord Brahma, according to Hindu mythology, is the creator god and is revered. He is said to have observed a harsh penance at Brahmatal for several years at a time, giving the place its name. I'm interested if Mount Trishul and Nanda Ghati prompted him to seek shelter here. Did a holy person, like so many of us, seek solace in nature's embrace? Is it possible that his presence elevated the location to godlike status?

Sigh. There are so many ideas and questions running through my head. The chilly alpine air of Brahmatal triggered all of this. This location is also in Uttarakhand, which is known for its mountain magic. And it somehow makes the sweat and energy required to find it while hiking up a trail all the sweeter.
