Kedarkantha Trek January 2021
The Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi is home to the Kedarkantha summit. It is open all year, with the exception of July and August. Kedarkantha peak rises to a height of 3810 metres (12,500 ft) above sea level. Kedarkantha's top offers a 360-degree view of various peaks. From the Yamunotri and Gangotri mountains, you can see Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch I & II, Black Peak, and Ranglana.
The journey to the peak of Kedarkantha begins in Sankri village. After a 7-8-hour drive from Dehradun, you'll arrive in Sankri, a small but growing community. Sankri serves as the beginning point for a number of climbs (Read Blog on : Treks from Sankri). The Kedarkantha trek takes four days in total, however it can be completed in three days by fit hikers. The trail to the summit is around 10 kilometres long, but it is steep the entire way.
We come upon Juda Ka Talab, a gorgeous lake with a campsite that is surrounded by pine forests. The lake freezes over in the midst of winter, and you may even walk on it. Around the lake, which is only a 2-minute walk away, there are numerous campers. The journey from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab is around 4 kilometres long and takes 3 to 4 hours. A night spent in the Juda Ka Talab campsite is immensely beneficial.
It takes roughly 3-4 hours to travel from Juda Ka Talab to the base camp of the Kedarkantha summit. On the second night, it will be used as a camping. It is situated at a height of 11,250 feet (3429 meters). A huge campground is located on the base, which is accessible through some tough slopes. The trek to the peak of Kedarkantha is short, but it is steep. Trekkers should leave early in the morning to arrive at the peak before sunrise.
